Lake Christian Ministries needs your help. Our services require a community effort to address the growing needs of families affected by the economic impact of this pandemic. Do you have a morning once a week or once a month to impact poverty in our local community? Here are a just a few volunteer jobs that need filled now.
Regularly Scheduled Food Pick Ups
LCM is in need of a 6 additional volunteers to assist with weekly and monthly food pick up from various suppliers. Volunteers need a valid driver’s license with a good driving history, ability to lift 30 lbs. and a commitment to specific pick-up locations and days. Back-up drivers are also needed to fill in for these positions periodically.
1. USDA: 1st and 3rd Mondays each month @ 9:00 am, Feeding America, Salem, VA (approximately 3 hours)
LCM volunteer drives a Ford E350 Super Duty 18-foot dock high box truck. Automatic transmission, 8,000 payload capacity. Truck loaded at site by USDA personnel.
2. Bimbo Bakeries: Weekly on Tuesdays @ 8:30 am in Roanoke, VA (approximately 3 hours)
LCM volunteer drives a Ford E450 16-foot step van. Automatic transmission, 6,000 lbs. payload.
Requires 5-foot racks of bread to be loaded. Usually, 14 to 21 racks per week. Unloading racks into LCM warehouse upon return.
3. Little Caesar’s Pizza: Twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday @ 9:30 am in Bedford, VA (approximately 1 hour)
LCM volunteer can use their own vehicle or drive a GMC Savanna van. Automatic transmission, 2,000 lbs. payload. Very light loads of prepared pizzas.
4. Kroger: Daily, mornings @ 9:00 am at Westlake Shopping Center (approximately 1 hour)
LCM volunteer can use their own vehicle or drive a GMC Savanna van or Ford Lite Duty Transit van.
Frozen and refrigerated food products.
5. Food Lion: Daily, mornings @ 9:00 am in Moneta on Diamond Hill Road & Route 122 (approximately 1 hour)
LCM volunteer can use their own vehicle or drive a GMC Savanna van or Ford Lite Duty Transit van.
Assorted bakery and food products.
6. Walmart: Once weekly on Tuesdays @ 8:30 am in Bedford (approximately 1 hour)
LCM volunteer can use their own vehicle or drive a GMC Savanna van or Ford Lite Transit van.
Assorted bakery and food products.
