A Child's Christmas
Children up to age 16 are registered to receive clothing – especially shoes and coats – and other gifts for Christmas. Toys are donated through the VA Dare Flotilla For Toys boat parade. Dozens of needs are displayed on Angel Trees around SML. Funds donated to “A Child’s Christmas” help to provide assurance to each child that this celebration is for all God’s children, rich or poor. |
School Supplies
Back-to-school supplies are provided for those children – kindergarten through high school – whose families are burdened by these additional expenses. Pencils, pens,notebooks, paper, backpacks and more are donated and/or purchased with funds specially donated for this project. |
Holiday Food Baskets
Special Thanksgiving dinners including a turkey or ham, potatoes, vegetables, rolls and dessert, are provided for client families. As funding allows, a Christmas Breakfast of special holiday food is distributed for each family. |
Ways to Work can help secure car loans
Presbyterian Homes & Family Services (PHFS) and the Family Alliance have announced a new partnership with Lake Christian Ministries to bring the Ways to Work program to Smith Mountain Lake. Souper Bowl Local church youth groups promote soup and other food donations for LCM as part of the national Souper Bowl of Caring campaign in January/February. hundreds of cans and dollars help fill the shelves in the food pantry. |
