Capital Campaign for Facility Expansion
2022-2023
For 30 years, Lake Christian Ministries has assisted families in need through tough times with food, clothing, financial aid, and education and job assistance. Recent impacts to our economy require us to do more. Building a collaborative support center will enable LCM to build pathways out of poverty. To achieve this greater mission, we need more space. For this, we need your help.
Constructing an additional facility will enable LCM to build business partnerships for job placement; connect vulnerable neighbors to coordinated community services; and stabilize families in crisis. Nurturing those who will contribute to our future economically and socially strengthens the Smith Mountain Lake region. By helping each other, the entire community grows and thrives.
Campaign Goal: $700,000 by year-end 2023
Project Overview
Over the past three decades, Lake Christian Ministries has evolved from a food and clothing pantry into a collaborative crisis support center that provides financial aid for housing, utilities, medical and dental care, and much more. LCM also offers the New Tomorrows program where participants work with staff and volunteers to develop a pathway out of poverty. In addition, Lake Christian Ministries networks with other community service partners to address specific needs and provides a central location for these organizations to meet with clients and coordinate relief resources and services.
These activities require physical spaces that were not necessary when our services were limited to just food and clothing. We now require multiple rooms that provide more privacy, larger meeting rooms for educational sessions and an improved receiving facility that will enable us to acquire and distribute larger shipments of food and clothing.
What’s Next
To make our vision a reality, your donation is needed to construct a building adjacent to the existing LCM center to house a warehouse, clothing area and a learning center; and to renovate the existing building to add meetings rooms. When the project is completed, the benefits to those we serve will be truly life-changing.
“For 30 years, Lake Christian Ministries has served vulnerable families in our lake community without a request for facility improvement. Without reservation, we made a strong commitment toward making these plans a reality. When completed, these expanded facilities will serve LCM and local families in need well into the future”.
