On December 12th the SML Model Railroad Club members presented a donation of $4,006 to Lake Christian Ministries Director Jane Winters and Board Oficers, Jim Laseter and Dave English, to support this year's A Child's Christmas Program. This donation represented record proceeds for the annual Charity Chug event.
"These funds will help provide toys, gifts and warm clothes for over 330 children who live in homes where there is rarely enough money to pay the bills and never enough income to put gifts under the tree," commented Jane Winters. "We are grateful to the SML Model Railroad Club for staging this wonderful holiday event and to the lake community for the very generous support of the Charity Chug."
On December 15 Lake Christian Ministries will share the joy and hope of Christmas with the community's children and families in need. Over 325 Christmas Breakfast baskets will be shared with LCM families and gifts will be given to approximately 330 children ages 16 and under.

NEW FORMAT FOR CHARITY CHUG IN 2018
The SML Model Railroad Group has announced that its 2018 Charity Chug will be held one day only, Saturday, December 8, 10 AM to 4PM at four locations. Primary will be at Trinity Ecumenical Parish, 40 Lakemount Drive, Moneta (1 mile south of Hales' Ford Bridge) where a variety of exhibits will show model railroading techniques and provide hands-on experiences, including layouts of various gauges that kids will be encouraged to operate. Demonstrations will include how scenery items are made, how trains stay "on the track" and negotiate curves and switches, a timed "switching puzzle" for kids to try (grand prize for fastest time that day). Displays will include a caboose collection, a table contrasting the various model train gauges (sizes), and videos from area layouts and full-scale train operations. Sandwiches and beverages available from TEP Youth Group, with tithing from proceeds to LCM. Donations encouraged at each location.
Mark your calendars to attend! Proceeds from donations at each location will benefit Lake Christian Ministries "A Child's Christmas." This is a great way for adults and kids alike to kick off the Holiday season and support Lake Christian Ministries effort to brighten the Holidays for poverty-stricken lake-area families.
